Technology Liaisons Network
2007 Technology Matters Institute
Application Deadline: March 2, 2007
To submit your application, go to: http://www.nwp.org/cs/public/print/events/176
Application Overview
The purpose of the application is to help the facilitation team plan an
institute that is responsive to the needs of those attending and to
select a diverse group of participants. In addition to responding to
the application questions (2–3 pages), please be sure to provide
complete contact information for each member of your site's
two-person team when you submit your application.
The institute facilitation team will review all applications received
by March 2, 2007, and will notify applicants of their status by April 2007.
Application Guidelines
The application process requires
- up-to-date
contact information via your NWPi profile (you will be prompted to
update your information after you begin the submission process)
- answers to the application questions
- a letter of support from your writing project site director
Note: The person submitting the application must have been designated as the site's technology liaison for at least
one year, attended an invitational summer institute, and
attended at least one strand of technology liaison workshops at
an Annual Meeting during the past six years.
Please respond to the following in a Word (.doc) or text (.txt) document (2-3 pages).
- What role(s) do you play at your writing project site? Describe
each team member's role separately. How long has each of you been in
the position you hold (e.g., teacher consultant, technology liaison,
inservice coordinator, co-director, director, etc.) and what are your
responsibilities? When did each team member attend an invitational
summer institute? When did the technology liaison on your team attend
the technology liaison strand of workshops at the Annual Meeting?
- Briefly describe current goals and priorities at your writing
project site. (They do not necessarily have to focus on the use of
technology.)
- In what ways has your site used, or how does it plan to use, technology to support any or all of these goals and priorities?
- What questions about technology, writing, and the work of your site
would your team like to explore with a group of NWP colleagues?
- Please indicate that you can both attend the full institute, from
6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, to departure on Sunday, July 22, 2007.
- For each participant on your team, please provide the following contact information:
- Name
- Address
- Phone
- Email address
Letter of Support
This application requires a brief letter from the director of your
site, indicating support for your team's attendance. Once you submit
your application, an email will automatically be sent to your site's
director asking for confirmation that she or he supports your
application. A director's note of support is necessary owing to the
site-related context of this retreat and the costs associated with
sending a team.
If you are not
your site's director, please ask your site's director to respond as
quickly as possible to the email inquiry he or she will receive.
Your application will not be complete until we receive the letter of
support.
Selection
The pool of participants chosen will be as representative as possible
of the geographic, racial, and ethnic diversity of the writing project. Sites will be notified of their status by April 2007.
