The purpose of the application is to help the Teacher Inquiry Communities (TIC) Network leadership team select a diverse group of writing project sites and to plan an institute that is responsive to the needs of those attending. In addition to responding to the application questions (2–3 pages), please be sure to provide complete contact information for each participant planning to attend.
Rationale: The TIC Network offers this four-day summer institute, the purpose of which is to support writing project sites to develop and sustain inquiry communities. This event is for sites that are new to the process of supporting inquiry communities or that would like to revitalize their teacher inquiry communities by taking a fresh look at how to work with them.

This institute is an opportunity for sites to develop knowledge and leadership around inquiry, rather than for individual teacher-consultants to work on inquiry projects. Therefore teams will be asked to consider how this work with inquiry communities will be integrated into the ongoing work of their local writing project site. Preference will be given to sites that did not participate in Inside Inquiry 2007.
You will be notified by March 31, 2009, about your team's participation in this institute. At that time we will send information about pre-institute preparation.
