Annual Meeting Transportation

The NCTE and NWP headquarters hotels are located in Times Square, in midtown Manhattan at the junction of Broadway and 7th Avenue between West 42nd and 50th Streets. Grand Central Station is about one mile from Times Square, and Penn Station is about two miles away. Times Square can be reached by multiple subway and bus lines.

Getting to and from the Airports

New York City is served by three major airports. Approximate distances and taxi fares from the airports to Times Square are noted below. (Visit airport websites for other ground transportation options.)

Getting from One Venue to Another

The Crowne Plaza Times Square (at Broadway and W. 48th Street) and the Marriott Marquis Times Square (at Broadway and W. 46th Street) are just two short blocks apart, about a five-minute walk.

The Javits Convention Center is at 655 W. 34th Street at 11th Avenue, approximately 1.5 miles from Times Square. Participants may get from one venue to another in several ways:

Taxi
The taxi ride from Times Square to the Javits Convention Center takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes and will cost around $10 to $15 one way, depending on traffic.

Walk
The 20-block, 1.5-mile walk from Times Square to the Javits Convention Center takes approximately 25 minutes.

Bus
The M42 bus picks up passengers every 5 to 10 minutes at the corner of 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, and drops off at the Javits Center. The 7- to 10-minute bus ride costs $2 each way.

Subway
Catch the downtown N or R train (entrance at 7th Avenue and Broadway) to the 34th Street/Penn Station stop. From the 34th Street stop, walk five long blocks to the Javits Center, about a 15-minute walk. The subway costs $2 per ride.
