2008 NWP Spring Meeting

Join your colleagues in the nation's capital on April 3–4, for the 2008 NWP Spring Meeting. Always an exciting event, the meeting provides writing project teachers and leaders an opportunity to share their classroom successes with members of Congress and with each other.

Wednesday, April 2

Pick up materials, get oriented, and mingle with your colleagues at the Wednesday evening reception, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Washington Court Hotel (525 New Jersey Ave., NW). We encourage everyone who arrives in D.C. by Wednesday evening to attend. Materials will also be available at the Thursday morning kickoff for those who cannot attend the reception.

Thursday, April 3

Thursday's program focuses on participants' visits to congressional offices to talk about the work of the writing project and the impact it has on teachers and students. The day also includes a morning kickoff meeting at the Washington Court Hotel and a reception at the Smithsonian Postal Museum. More ›

Friday, April 4

The meeting continues on Friday, April 4, at the Washington Court Hotel with a keynote speech by Sonia Nieto, Professor Emerita of Language, Literacy, and Culture, School of Education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. The keynote is followed by two sets of roundtable discussions on the latest issues that writing project teachers face today. More ›

Paying for your visit

Please note: Your site may use federal funds to pay for expenses for Friday's Spring Meeting events but must use non-federal funds to pay for expenses for Thursday's events.
