National Writing Project

2008 Spring Meeting—Thursday, April 3

Thursday's program starts with a morning kickoff meeting from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the Washington Court Hotel.

Participants will then head off for their personal visits to congressional offices to talk about the work of the writing project and the impact it has on teachers and students.

The day closes with a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Smithsonian Postal Museum, a chance to mix and mingle with writing project colleagues from around the country. See the map of Capitol Hill (PDF) for event locations.

Give yourself intervals of 45 minutes to one hour to allow for travel between appointments. Use the additional resources below for guidance in making your appointments.

Remember to coordinate your Senate visits with other participants from your state. All participants from your state should attend a single visit to each senator's office. Refer to the list of sites attending below, and contact other sites from your state before contacting your senators' offices.
