Join your colleagues in the nation's capital on April 2–3 for the 2009 NWP Spring Meeting. Always an exciting event, the meeting gives writing project teachers and leaders an opportunity to share their classroom successes with members of Congress and with each other.
Wednesday, April 1
Pick up materials, get oriented, and mingle with your colleagues at the Wednesday evening planning session and reception, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., at the Washington Court Hotel. We encourage everyone who arrives in D.C. by Wednesday evening to attend. Materials will also be available at the Thursday morning kickoff for those who cannot attend the reception.
Thursday, April 2
Thursday's program focuses on participants' visits to congressional offices to talk about the work of the writing project and the impact it has on teachers and students. The day also includes a morning kickoff meeting and an evening reception. Read more ›
Friday, April 3
The meeting continues on Friday, April 3, at the Washington Court Hotel with a keynote speech by Jacqueline Jones Royster, Professor of English at The Ohio State University. The keynote is followed by two sets of roundtable discussions on the latest issues that writing project teachers face today. Read more ›
Paying for your visit
Please note: Your site may use federal funds to pay for expenses for Friday's Spring Meeting events but must use nonfederal funds to pay for expenses for Thursday's events.
Lodging
The Washington Court Hotel and the Phoenix Park Hotel are now full. We have added a small block of rooms at the Hyatt Regency Washington
for the nights of April 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The Hyatt Regency is on Capitol Hill at 400 New Jersey Ave., NW, across the street from the Washington Court. More info ›
