2009 Spring Meeting—Thursday, April 2
At the morning kickoff meeting, participants will pick up new materials about the writing project and hear from NWP’s key supporters. The meeting will take place at the Cannon Caucus Room
, the grandest room built for the House of Representatives outside of the Capitol.
From 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., participants will make their personal visits to congressional offices to talk about the work of the writing project and the impact it has on teachers and students. If participants have questions for NWP staff during this time, they can visit the participant support office at the Washington Court Hotel or call a special phone number that will be announced at the meeting.
The day closes with an evening reception at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, a chance to mix and mingle with writing project colleagues from around the country. See the map of Capitol Hill for event locations.
Essential Information for Capitol Hill Visits
Participants should make their appointments with House and Senate offices well in advance. Please schedule intervals of 45 minutes to one hour between appointments to allow for travel. The resources below provide guidance for making appointments.
Senate visits must be coordinated with other participants from your state. Please communicate with other sites in your state to schedule a single visit to each senator’s office.
