Keynote Speech
Kelly Gallagher, co-director of the former South Basin Writing Project at California State University Long Beach and author of the book Readicide, will deliver Friday's keynote speech.
Gallagher defines "readicide" in his book Readicide: How Schools Are Killing Reading and What You Can Do About It
as the "systematic killing of the love of reading, often exacerbated by the inane, mind-numbing practices found in our schools."
Gallagher will focus on the reasons for readicide in his keynote address. For more, read NWP's profile of Kelly Gallagher.
