Benefits at the NWP
The National Writing Project believes in the importance of ensuring a positive work environment where employees' wellness and safety are valued. The National Writing Project is proud to offer the following benefits.
Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Plans
The employee's monthly contribution for medical premiums is $60 for the employee only and $100 for family coverage. The corporation will pay the balance of the medical premiums and the full cost of dental and vision coverage for the employee and dependents.
Eligible Dependents:The employee's eligible dependents include spouse, children, adopted children, step-children, children within the employee's legal custody, same-sex or opposite-sex domestic partner, domestic partner's children and step-children, and any children within the domestic partner's legal custody.
Vacation
Employees accrue 24 vacation days per year.
Sick Leave
Employees accrue 12 sick days per year.
Employee Assistance Programs
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counseling, assessment, and referral program designed to help manage work and life concerns. Employees can receive assistance with personal concerns such as marital, family, substance-abuse, mental health, legal, financial, and other issues.
Flexible Benefits Plan
Employees are entitled to participate in NWP's Flexible Benefits Plan. Under this plan, employees may elect to have their medical premiums deducted from their salary on a pretax basis.
Short-Term Disability
Employees outside of California are eligible for short-term disability insurance provided by the NWP. California employees are eligible for state-mandated short-term disability insurance (SDI), which provides comparable benefits.
Retirement Plans
Eligible employees are entitled to participate in NWP's group retirement annuity (GRA). The corporation will contribute an amount to this program equal to 13 percent of the employee's annual earnings.
Eligible employees may also participate in NWP's supplemental retirement annuity (SRA) account. Under the SRA, employees may contribute additional pretax dollars, up to the allowable amount, to an SRA account.
Holidays
Employees receive 13 official holidays per year.
Special Leave
Employees may be allowed up to five working days off with pay to cover absence caused by serious illness of the employee or serious illness or death of an immediate family member (i.e. spouse, domestic partner, child, or parent).
Additional Benefits
Benefits also include ergonomic consultations, professional development resources, commuter checks, and AFLAC supplemental insurance.
