Final Push on the Senate Dear Colleague Letter

We know you have continued to make calls, send emails, and even meet with legislative aides in your hometowns while Congress has been on recess this past week and a half. NWP is getting remarkable attention in DC, thanks to your persistence.

Our deadline for the Senate Dear Colleague letter is next Tuesday, April 13. We have time for a final all-out push!

Please call the DC office of your senator and ask to speak to the education aide to request your senator’s signature on the NWP Dear Colleague letter. If the aide has not seen the letter, please email or fax it to him or her. The letter can be found on the NWP website: http://www.nwp.org/cs/public/print/doc/extranet/supportingthenwp

If your senator cannot sign the letter, please ask if he or she can write an individual letter of support about the importance of NWP for teachers and students in your state to the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies.

You can find the phone numbers for the DC offices of all senators at http://www.senate.gov/ or email us for information at publicaffairs@nwp.org

Thank you to everyone for giving so much energy to this effort and for keeping us in the loop. We appreciate your emails letting us know who you have contacted and how your senators are responding. Please continue to contact your legislators and send responses to publicaffairs@nwp.org. Thank you!
