Writing and Technology: A Professional Writing Retreat
August 4–7, 2005
Lied Lodge and Conference Center
Nebraska City, Nebraska
Are you experimenting with writing and technology in your classroom or at your writing project site? Have you used weblogs, email, the NWP E-Anthology, online chat rooms, or other forms of technology that help students or teachers write and learn? Do you have a story to tell about technology-related professional development at your writing project site? Come to this retreat and write about your experiences with technology and writing.
NWP Writing and Technology: A Professional Writing Retreat offers the following:
- time to reflect on and write about teaching practices involving writing and technology in ways that make visible the goals and beliefs of the National Writing Project
- a supportive writing and technology-friendly community in which to develop and refine professional writing
- knowledge and experience to help participants promote professional writing at their sites (with a special focus on writing and technology)
- encouragement for those who wish to write hypertexts or experiment with writing in other technology formats, with publication in mind.
The structure of the retreat is designed to accommodate writers at any level in their development. On-site writing coaches and editors provide support. Through participation in small writing groups and other opportunities to share writing, teachers become part of a community of writers. This retreat helps participants develop pieces for a wide variety of audiences and publications--both print and online--including the NWP publications The Voice and The Quarterly.
