2006 Writing and Technology: A Professional Writing Retreat

July 26–30, 2006

Lied Lodge and Conference Center 2700 Sylvan Road
Nebraska City, Nebraska

Are you experimenting with writing and technology in your classroom or at your writing project site? Do you have a story to tell about successes ... about challenges ... about access and equity? Come to this retreat and write about your experiences.

NWP Writing and Technology: A Professional Writing Retreat offers

  • time to reflect on and write about teaching practices involving writing and technology
  • a supportive writing and technology-friendly community in which to develop and refine professional writing
  • knowledge and experience to help participants promote professional writing at their sites and make visible the goals and beliefs of the National Writing Project
  • encouragement for those who wish to write and publish in digital formats.

The structure of the retreat is designed to accommodate writers at any level in their development. Teachers become part of a community of writers by participating in small groups where they can share their writing. On-site writing coaches and editors provide further support. In the end, participants have the opportunity to develop pieces for a wide variety of audiences and publications, both print and online.

Travel and Lodging

NWP will cover the cost of double-occupancy rooms and meals at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center. Participants are responsible for travel costs and incidentals. (Local sites may be able to help with travel expenses.)
