2007 Planning Your Site's Web Presence: A Working Retreat

April 27–29, 2007

University of Massachusetts
Amherst, Massachusetts
Host site: Western Massachusetts Writing Project

Hosted by the Western Massachusetts Writing Project, this retreat will support two-person teams from writing project sites as they consider their site's online presence and its relation to their site's core work, priorities, and goals. Whether you are rethinking an already existing online presence or conceiving of a new one, this retreat is designed to help you create a Web development plan.

The retreat's goals are to

  • support writing project teams in thinking strategically about their Web presences
  • support writing project teams in preparing for strategic Web planning and development back at their sites
  • develop a set of strategic Web-planning resources from this pilot retreat to support the national network of sites.

Details

Teams should plan on arriving by 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27, for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off dinner and should plan to stay through 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29.

Please note: This retreat should not be viewed as a technology workshop that entails the actual building of a Web presence, but rather a way to view the work and structure of your site through a Web-oriented lens.

Cost

The Technology Initiative will cover the cost of the retreat, including room and board, once participants arrive. Local writing project sites will be expected to cover the cost for the team's travel to and from Amherst, Massachusetts.
