2010 Planning Your Site's Web Presence: A Working Retreat

May 21–23, 2010

The Magnolia Hotel
Denver, Colorado

This retreat will support two-person teams from writing project sites as they consider their site's online presence and its relation to their site's core work, priorities, and goals. Whether you are rethinking an already existing online presence or conceiving of a new one, this retreat is designed to help you create a Web development plan.

The retreat's goal is to support writing project teams in

  • thinking strategically about their Web presence
  • preparing for strategic Web planning and development back at their sites
  • identifying the resources needed to implement their Web presence development plan back at their sites.

Details

Teams should plan to arrive by 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 21, for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off dinner and should plan to stay through 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23.

Cost

The Technology Initiative will cover the cost of the retreat, including room and board, once participants arrive. Local writing project sites will be expected to cover the cost for the team's travel to and from Denver, Colorado.

Application Overview

The pool of participants will be as representative as possible of the geographic, racial, and ethnic diversity of the National Writing Project.

Please note: This retreat should not be viewed as a technology workshop that entails the actual building of a Web presence, but rather as a place to plan strategically for a Web presence that accurately reflects the work and structure of your local writing project site.
