Integrating professional writing into the core work of a site can strengthen the summer institute and continuity programs, provide new leadership opportunities, and help teacher-consultants and directors publish professionally. In this interactive workshop, teacher-consultants and site directors will delve into the thinking behind the national model for Professional Writing Retreats and unpack the nuts and bolts of planning a retreat. Past retreat coordinators and participants will facilitate small groups to discuss the kinds of support needed at the local level to replicate the model. Facilitators will distribute copies of the Professional Writing Retreat Handbook.
