A23 Strategies for Reading Complex Texts in the Summer Institute

Often, professional conversations are not easy to join—theory can feel alienating and the language can feel complicated and abstract. This session presents ways into professional conversations about teaching writing through a series of activities that not only give teachers power over and insight into professional conversations, but provide strategies for teaching complex texts that teachers can use with their students. The facilitators will engage participants in an exercise using several strategies for reading complex texts in the summer institute and beyond.
