Twenty-First-Century Girls: In the Mix

How might writing instruction support the positive development of girls’ voices and encourage girls’ active participation in their own developing literacy and in civic culture? In this workshop, we will share effective classroom strategies that include reading and writing graphic novels and life-saving writing activities that support adolescent girls in the healthy development of a strong female identity. Participants will contribute to a series of presentations and conversations that examine the ongoing relevance of feminist pedagogy in the twenty-first century.
