Friday Breakout Sessions

B4 Accessing the Power of Talk Through Digital Voice Recorders

When: Friday, 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Where: Marriott Marquis Times Square Hotel, 5th floor, Belasco
Presenter(s):
Renee Webster, Red Cedar Writing Project

Participants in this session will discover how students in a primary classroom used digital voice recorders to create new literacy identities. Working in small groups, attendees will participate in an analysis of recorded classroom discussions in order to notice and describe significant features of literacy and learning. Attendees will consider how this technology enables “smart thinking” to be captured, revisited in the classroom discourse, and celebrated.
