This “Reading the Research” session takes a look at studies of English learners and academic literacy. Participants will be given copies of an article on promoting academic literacy among secondary English language learners, which synthesizes a wide range of research. After participants read the article and participate in activities to share their understandings, facilitators will help them think about how to use this research at their local writing project site. This session is for teacher-consultants, site leaders, and directors.
