Topics: Teaching Writing, Technology
Remixing is the art and craft of writing through the mixing of different and often disparate source texts, whether they be images, sounds, movies, or conventional text. Students and teachers are exposed to countless remix compositions, often without even recognizing them. Participants will learn about this new literacy practice by deconstructing common remix forms such as "photoshopping," music samples, video, "machinima," fan-fiction, and more. Discussion will focus on how these practices fit in classrooms.
