National Writing Project

A18 Writing as Informed Citizens

In the fall of 2008 Google Docs and NWP teamed up to create "Writing Our Future: Letters to the Next President." Over 6,000 students from more than 200 schools participated in the project, which is now published at www.letters2president.org. This workshop will examine high school students' use of multimodal digital tools to clarify their thoughts on issues important to them, collect information, document their inquiry, and publish using the template feature in Google Docs. There will also be an opportunity to discuss how those letters became part of a larger civic dialogue.
