Both teachers and students are making more active use of mass media, digital media, and popular culture as tools for literacy and learning. But teachers may feel some apprehension when students incorporate copyrighted items into their compositions. Renee Hobbs of Temple University’s Media Education Lab will help you make sense of what the law says about the use of mass media and popular culture to promote critical thinking and communication skills for teaching purposes. You will also learn about resources you can use to understand, apply, and explain copyright and fair use.
