According to Sharon J. Washington, executive director of NWP, the program has been very successful with innovative workshops that address writing, teaching practices, and researching. The NWP is currently an authorized program under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and has received direct funding from Congress for the past 15 years. But this new round of consolidation has put the program at risk.

Tell Congressional representatives that NWP must have continued federal support by sending this NWP advocacy letter. Let them know that students' writing skills will be lacking without the workshops NWP provides.
