Prairie Lands Writing Project Receives Congressional Praise

Writing groups from across the country received an outpouring of support last week, said Dr. Frick. She was especially encouraged by a message from Missouri Sen. Kit Bond's office, saying he would vote against the amendment, which was part of a bill that passed Tuesday giving more power to the Food and Drug Administration.

Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill was a co-sponsor of the amendment. Dr. Frick said she didn't get a direct response from Ms. McCaskill's office, but heard through another state project director that she approves and endorses the writing project's work, and that she was trying to figure out a way for the national network to continue in a way other than through earmarks.
