Oregon Writing Project Thrives in New Home

Summary: The Oregon Writing Project enters its second summer at George Fox University, which became its home in September 2014 after the closure of Willamette University's Graduate School of Education. In addition to holding a Summer Institute in Newberg, where GFU is located, the OWP continues to offer an Institute in their old home in Salem.

The site hardly missed a beat after physically moving to Newberg in September 2014, as it was able to offer a version of its cornerstone program, the Institute in the Teaching of Writing, in January 2015.
'I would never have believed the transition would go this smoothly, but George Fox has been an amazing partner,' [Site Director Karen] Hamlin said. 'One of the reasons (provost) Linda Samek thought it was a good fit for George Fox is there are a number of really strong literacy faculty in the college of education. They've embraced it and supported it."
