Progress Continues on New Writing Project Site at Montana State University, Billings

Summary: The National Writing Project's Rachel Bear visited Billings, Montana to continue planning for the NWP's newest site, the Elk River Writing Project. The site held its first Summer Institute this summer, and is working to officially join the NWP.

With support from the National Writing Project, sites like the Elk River Writing Project work with educators on teaching skills across grade levels and subjects.

'It's a philosophy. It's a community,' [director Glenda] McCarthy said.

The idea is to get teachers to foster critical thinking, creativity and professional skills through writing and composition."
