Connecting Online at the 2010 NWP Annual Meeting

Conferences aren't just live events anymore, so we invite you to use Web 2.0 tools to publish your blog posts, tweets, photos, movies, and other online resources that are relevant to this year's NWP Annual Meeting.

Internet access will be limited to a few public areas, predetermined session rooms, and sleeping rooms. All Internet access, except in the predetermined sessions, involves a daily fee.

Tag the Annual Meeting

To make sure that your content is accessible to all Writing Project colleagues, be sure to add the official meeting tag to your content: nwpam10.

Tags—key words that you assign to content—are used in most social networking and online publishing tools as a way to help people find content, connect with others who have similar interests, and enable collaboration.

Here are specific ways to use the nwpam10 tag to share and find content related to the Annual Meeting.

 

Blog the Meeting

If you are blogging the conference, tag your post nwpam10 so that it will show up on the Google Blog search on nwpam10.

Share your blog url: If you plan to blog the meeting, please sign up to share your url so that your writing project colleagues can read your posts.

Post to NWP Walkabout: The great thing about NWP's Walkabout blog, NWP's conference blog, is that it's designed for you to post your reflections from the meeting—and it's as easy as sending an email. Here is how you can post:

  • Compose a new email and address it to post@nwpwalkabout.posterous.com
  • The subject you put in the subject line will be the headline for the post.
  • You can also add tags to a post by putting the following syntax in the subject line: ((tags: nwpam10, summer institute, digital writing))
  • The body of the message will be the body of your post.
  • Include your byline at the top of the body of the post.
  • To add video or audio, simply include the files as attachments.
  • Send the email and go to http://nwpwalkabout.posterous.com to read it.

 

Tweet the Meeting

During the conference, you can use Twitter to provide short snippets with your thoughts on workshops and sessions. Add the hashtag #nwpam10 inline to your post so that all posts will be grouped on nwpam10 tweets. Also, if you are a Twitter user, then follow us.

If you plan to tweet the meeting, please sign up to share your url so that your Writing Project colleagues can read your posts.

Share Conference Photos

Please post your photos from the meeting on Flickr using the nwpam10 tag. After the meeting, browse photos tagged nwpam10.

 

Film the Meeting

NWP will post videos of General Session presenters as we do each year, but we want to see your videos as well. Tag them on YouTube with nwpam10 so that they will be easy to find after the meeting via a YouTube search on nwpam10.

 

Share Slides and PDFs

If you have a relevant PowerPoint presentation or PDF to share, post it on Slideshare and tag it nwpam10. After the meeting, browse the nwpam10 presentations.
