Advanced Placement Language and Composition teacher, Collegiate Prep Academy; Denver, CO

Sarah has taught middle and high school English Language Arts for over 20 years and currently teaches Advanced Placement Language and Composition and English Composition 121 and 122 (Concurrent Enrollment) at Collegiate Prep Academy in Denver Public Schools. Collegiate Prep uses an early college model through which students in the upper grades receive dual high school and college credit through Aurora Community College. Sarah participates in the Literacy Design Collaborative national jurying team, an ever expanding group of educators who review modules submitted by teachers across the country for consideration as an exemplar and for feedback from colleagues with LDC expertise. She holds a B.A. in Secondary English Education with a minor in Intercultural Communication from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and an M.A. in Language, Literacy, and Culture: English Education, from the University of Colorado Denver. Sarah earned her National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2010.
