Join NWP at NCTE

Join your colleagues from around the network at this year's NCTE Annual Convention in Houston, TX from November 15–18, 2018. Writing Project teacher leaders will be facilitating a wide variety of sessions at the Convention, and NWP will host a brunch for the network on Sunday, November 18 ($45; separate ticket required). The perennial NWP exhibit booth will be up and running in the exhibit hall as well. We hope to see you there!

Location and Sleeping Rooms

The Convention will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston. Sleeping rooms are available at a variety of nearby hotels through the NCTE Housing Bureau. The deadline to reserve your room at the NCTE convention rate is October 23, 2018.

National Writing Project Brunch

Be sure to register for the NCTE Convention and join us at the NWP Brunch on Sunday, November 18 from 10:30–11:45 a.m., right before the closing session. The brunch costs $45 and a separate, pre-purchased ticket is required (available for purchase during registration).

This gathering is designed for teachers affiliated with Writing Project sites around the country. Join your colleagues for food and conversation about issues important to your Writing Project site, teaching writing, and more. Executive Director Elyse Eidman-Aadahl will offer remarks about the state of the NWP network and our work this past year, and attendees will have time to connect with one another and share about current work.

NWP Sessions at NCTE

NWP has its own strand of sessions at this year's NCTE Annual Convention! Look for the National Writing Project tag on sessions when you plan which sessions to attend. You can also download this PDF for a list of NWP-led sessions that we have received from the NWP network.

NWP Booth

While you're at NCTE, be sure to stop by the exhibit hall and visit us at the NWP Booth (space 537). NWP staff and local teacher-consultants will be on hand to provide information about the Writing Project. The booth will also feature a game and NWP books and promo items for sale.

The booth is open Friday, 10:00 a.m–6:30 p.m.; Saturday, 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 8:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
