Diana Mitchell

Red Cedar Writing Project

Diana Mitchell, founding co-director of the Red Cedar Writing Project, earned her Ph.D. in English in 1992 while serving as a high school teacher in the Lansing (Michigan) public schools. Diana continued to teach in Lansing public schools until her retirement several years ago. During her career, she served as chair of the Women in Literacy and Life Assembly (WILLA) and the Assembly on Literature for Adolescents (ALAN) of the National Council of Teachers of English. Diana is the author of Children's Literature: An Invitation to the World and coauthor of Exploring and Teaching the English Language Arts with Stephen Tchudi and of Both Art and Craft: Teaching Ideas that Spark Learning with Leila Christenbury.
