Candance Doerr-Stevens, a University of Minnesota doctoral student, is working with high school teachers in Bloomington and Edina to help them tap blogs and other social networking forums as part of the university's Minnesota Writing Project.

"Students aren't writing for their teachers alone; their peers are reading and constantly responding," said Doerr-Stevens. "So they are not only highly engaged but also very attentive to their word choice and how they frame issues."
