
Carla Truttman
Carla has taught high school English and social studies for the past 20 years in far northern, rural California. She recently accepted a position as Educational Services Director for the Siskiyou County Office of Education, where she will work with teachers and administrators to create positive educational experiences for underserved rural students. She currently serves as the Co-Director of the Northern California Writing Project and C3WP Program Director. She has been involved with several National Writing Project initiatives, with a particular interest in promoting student agency and voice through civic engagement. Carla collaborated with teachers from across the state on the California Writing Project’s initiative, Improving Student Academic Writing (ISAW). She has designed and facilitated teacher professional development for K-12th grade teachers and schools throughout the rural counties of far northern California for the past 15 years. Carla holds a B.A. in History from California State University, Chico and has single-subject teaching credentials in both English and social studies.
