At a Fresno State event, Sandra Cisneros, author of The House on Mango Street, discussed how one important teacher inspired her to begin her life as a writer. "I like to tell people that if you're a writer, you're always a writer," she says. Earlier this year, the English Department and San Joaquin Valley Writing Project at Fresno State presented a Cisneros-related symposium for teachers.
