2014 SEED Professional Development in a High-Need School Grant


As part of NWP's 2013 Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant from the U.S. Department of Education, NWP is currently requesting proposals for grants of $20,000 from eligible Writing Project sites interested in partnering with a high-need school to provide 30 or more hours of intensive professional development for teachers focused on supporting students in meeting rigorous college- and career-ready writing standards during the 2014-2015 school year and summer 2015.The goals of the funding include: improving teacher practice in the teaching of academic writing through increasing the amount of time spent on writing instruction; increasing the number of extended writing assignments; and improving the quality of writing assignments and their alignment with college- and career-ready standards.   • Grant Amount: $20,000
  • Number of Awards Available: 50
  • Eligibility: Each continuing NWP site is eligible for a grant award provided that all required reports are on file and approved (see RFP for details). Sites that received a High-Need School PD grant for 2013-14 or are part of the i3 College-Ready Writers Program are not eligible to apply for this round of grants.
  • Intent to Apply Due: March 3, 2014
  • Proposal Due: April 15, 2014 at 12:00 midnight PDT
  • Award Notification: June 2, 2014
  • Program Year: September 1, 2014–August 31, 2015

Submission Information

  • Prepare and submit the 2014-2015 PD in a High-Need School Grant budget request in the NWP budget system. Deadline: April 15, 2014. See additional instructions in the RFP below.
  • Prepare and submit the 2014-2015 Core budget page in the NWP budget system by April 15, 2014. See additional instructions in the RFP below.
  • Upload the narrative, signed letter of support from the school principal, and signed signature page as separate documents between April 1 and April 15, 2014 via the submission button below.
