Congressional Earmark of $647,000 Fuels Shepherd University National Writing Project’s Launch

Shepherd University National Writing Project (SUNWP), recently established with efforts from its Department of English, History, and Modern Languages, has been awarded a significant $647,000 congressional earmark from senators Capito and Manchin. This grant fully funds the newly recognized site for two-and-a-half years, marking it as the third National Writing Project site in West Virginia, following those at West Virginia University and Marshall University. The funding will support various initiatives, including the annual Literacy Leaders Conference, aiming to enhance the collaboration between university writing instructors and K-12 educators to address and improve writing and communication skills among students.
