The Greater Kansas City Writing Project at the University of Central Missouri received a $4.9 million grant (part of a larger $5.89 million award to Missouri) to expand literacy education and professional development for secondary and career-tech educators over five years. The funding will provide research-based professional learning, leadership opportunities, and tuition scholarships for teachers while building a supportive community to improve student literacy outcomes and teacher retention. This represents the second round of CLSD funding for GKCWP, which has been a National Writing Project site since 1983.
