Local Tribes Collaborate with Educators to Enrich History

Northern California tribal communities are partnering with a network of educators and writers to teach students about their culture and history.

Each grade level has a team of teachers who work with a cultural consultant from each of four tribes: Winnemem Wintu, Wintu Tribe of Northern California, Pit River, and Redding Rancheria. Resulting lessons fit state standards and remain true to tribal culture and history.

This project was made possible by an NEH Recovery Grant.
