The National Writing Project’s Our Towns, Our Stories initiative, supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, empowers student writers to engage in local civic journalism. The Western Massachusetts Writing Project is piloting the project, focusing on rural communities that have become "news deserts," giving students a platform to report on local issues with integrity and enthusiasm. The initiative is available nationally and offers young journalists opportunities to amplify their voices and explore the power of storytelling in shaping their communities.
