The University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Education hosted its annual “Becoming Writers: Power, Place, and Pedagogy in Teaching Writing” course, also known as the Summer Writing Institute. Led by Manitoba Writing Project co-directors Dr. Michelle Honeyford and Dr. Jennifer Watt, the immersive two-week program brought graduate students together for hands-on writing, collaborative workshops, and movement-based activities that reconnected educators with their own creativity. This year’s institute also featured the Ripple Effects Symposium, inspiring participants to design water-focused writing projects for their classrooms, continuing the site’s role as Canada’s first international affiliate of the National Writing Project.
